Evernote, What Happened to You?

I remember when Evernote was my go-to productivity tool. I always had it open in a tab, ready to capture notes or compose a quick draft at a moment's notice. Those were the good times!

Last time I logged in a couple years ago, Evernote told me I couldn't sync more than ONE DEVICE. One device? That's not syncing—that's basically Notepad with extra steps.

Now, in 2026, I log back in to see if anything's improved and... BAM! Free accounts are limited to ONE NOTEBOOK and 50 NOTES. Are you kidding me?

Evernote went down the toilet harder than almost any product I've watched over the years. It's sad and kind of spectacular to witness.

My 2026 BloodStrike Wishlist

I’ve been an avid FPS player for over 25 years. Doom, Duke Nukem 3D… Half-Life, Counter-Strike… Then, over the last few years, I jumped into Battle Royale–style shooters like Call of Duty, PUBG, Valorant, and many more… including BloodStrike.

And yeah… I have a serious love/hate relationship with BloodStrike.

On one hand, the gunplay is absolutely fantastic. Weapons are punchy, responsive, and satisfying. On the other hand, the game is fucking sweaty.

So I figured I’d put together a list of improvements that could make the game less exhausting, more readable, and way more enjoyable for casual players, without killing its identity.

Let’s get into it.

My WH40K: Warpforge Farewell Rant

Disclaimer: I genuinely had a great time with Warpforge. This is a post-mortem-rant kind of thing—why I’m walking away, and what I wish had been done differently. This is not written in anger alone. This isn’t a call to boycott.

I’ve played a lot of CCGs over the years and Warhammer 40K: Warpforge is one of my favorites. IMO, it used to be better than most other similar games on the market. But not so much nowadays, mostly because of intense corporate greed.

Warhammer 40K is dope, man. And it’s an excellent IP for a digital card game. At release, the game had interesting components and felt very streamlined. Simple yet effective mechanics. Starting the game at 2 power. Ephemeral cards acting as hero powers. Each turn you have something interesting to do, decisions to make. That was good.

On Slowing Down to Write

Man, do we live in a world designed for the “scroll.” Everything we consume (mostly online) is in fifteen second bursts. Clickbait headlines, comments, reels… You name it.

But what about writing? I mean… Real writing?

The creative process behind writing good stuff demands a serious gear shift. You gotta slow down and think. Slow down and write. Man, is it hard nowadays.

Even if you’re writing short poems. Pretty simple, right? No overarching narrative, nothing special. Still, you gotta focus and invest time and effort to create something legit and genuine.

You can’t “life-hack” your way into writing. Let alone use AI to fill the gaps and save some time. What do you want to create? Something real? Or yet another bucket of stupid AI sludge?

In our day and age, slowing down to write and create feels like falling behind. There’s a constant pressure to go fast, post stuff and move on to the next thing. It makes it kind of unthinkable to close down everything, sit at a desk and write… And ONLY write.

This is something I want to work on in 2026.

To be continued…

FlatPress needs to move towards native Markdown

I've been reading a lot on Markdown blog engines recently. I even considered moving this blog to GitHub Pages, so that I could blog natively in Markdown. Why? Let's see...

Consider this:

  • Blogger is an outdated platform that’s barely maintained by Google.
  • WordPress is a greedy, unsecure platform that everyone and their mom are using.
  • Medium.com, Substack… do you even own your content anymore?
  • GitHub Pages and Jekyll are awesome, but building and running a blog with them is more complicated than it should be.
  • Don’t even mention Tumblr.

Don’t get me wrong, the classic blogging platforms aren’t going away… In fact, they’re not going anywhere… and that’s mostly the issue. They’re stuck in 2010 when hacking together a blog was cool. The result? Most blogs are old and look old…

Writing about Writing Part 3

There's nothing like coming back full circle. And I did, again!

Last time, I was excited to share how I created my own custom writing environment by enhancing Dropbox Paper with the Stylus Chrome plugin. As you’ll see below, the final result is pretty rad and I love it. It's a good setup for long-form writing.

And Then from StreamLabs to Nothing

2023 and 2024 have been good years for streaming on Twitch. I reached about 10 or 20 followers. While that doesn't seem like much, considering how clumsy and unreliable I was in the beginning, it’s quite an achievement!

Then, in August 2024, I received life-changing news—I found out I would become a dad. Suddenly, I had no more time for streaming.

I did try streaming on X, which is not focused on gaming at all, but their streaming system is well-designed and simple; it works.

Unfortunately, time constraints meant I still couldn’t continue streaming.

A month ago, we welcomed our son. What a joy!

Will I stream again one day? Sure! Will it be on Twitch? Unlikely. On X? Maybe. Time will tell.

Catch you later!

Writing about Writing Part 2

2 years ago, I wrote a blog post about writing. Or rather, how not to write. How, when writing, I’d do anything else than the actual writing.

Writing about Writing

Now that 2024 is nearing its end, I finally have a proper writing setup that I'm happy to share. To my greatest surprise, it’s on a platform that I’ve been gravitating around and using now and then for a decade: Dropbox Paper. It only needed a couple of tweaks to reach the stars, and here we are.

It all started about a year ago. I was writing a John Titor 2K fanfiction on Paranormalis, and the more I was re-reading it, the more it looked like shit…

Then from OBS to StreamLabs

Oh well, I didn't stay long on OBS. Not that I don't like it. It just doesn't feel as streamlined and intuitive as Twitch Studio, or StreamLabs, which I eventually switched to.

OBS works great, for sure. But it has so little automation, most things Twitch Studio does right off the bat, you have to do manually in OBS. That's mostly what motivated me to look elsewhere.

StreamLabs feels good and is not that far away from the look and feel of Twitch Studio. It works well.

From Twitch Studio to OBS

Twitch decided to discontinue its streaming app, Twitch Studio. Sounds like I'm in the 4% of people who used it!

Well, it forced me to upgrade to OBS and stream like the big boys. It's certainly not a bad thing... I'm now satisfied with my current OBS setup. It's a nice improvement compared to Twitch Studio.

I must have used Twitch Studio for about 6 to 7 months. I think it was a good starting point for my streaming adventures. It's a very limited app, but it's incredibly simple. You're good to go in no time!

OBS, on the other hand, is way more powerful, but way more complicated. I still have a couple of things to set up, like the Twitch alerts and a proper chat overlay when I stream from a single-monitor system. I'll do it over time, no big deal.

See you on Twitch!

Titorian Scripts - Volume I

Click here to discover the Titorian Scripts - Volume I on Paranormalis.

The first time I heard of John Titor was in 2005. It was a true revelation, a unique story. A tale like no other… Little did I know, I had found a gift that would keep on giving.

A gift that would follow me for the next 20 years of my life.

John’s story is one of selfless sacrifice, courage, hope, friendship, and love that spans decades. A labor of love we can all relate to, that resonates within our very cores.

His C204 time displacement unit, his mission to retrieve the IBM 5100 computer, his messages on Time Travel Institute, the secret song… Every little fragment, every little piece of his tale is a treasure.

Medium.com: Goodbye for Now

So I have decided to stop posting on Medium.com. Mostly due to lack of time, I gave up. In spite of that, I have posted a total of 81 articles. 14 Articles and 67 Poems.

In one year, I made a total of $1.76. Is this more than my expectations? Yes, it is a lot more. I was expecting zero. But I got more than zero. So, success, yay! 🎉🍾 💰

But all in all, it's not worth it for me. My focus would rather be on Paranormalis and this blog. I have the feeling that with the same amount of time, I can add a lot more value to Paranormalis by being a part of the discussion and implementation of new features. The same is true with this blog and other projects I am working on. They add more value and are more rewarding than just posting to Medium.

Don't get me wrong. Medium is a great platform for great content. It's a great product.

But considering how I'm getting very few views on Medium and very few views on my blog... Well, I'd rather spend time on my blog.

Maybe I'll get back to it someday. To be continued...

See ya!

Grey Matter 1.2

Here's version 1.2 of the Grey Matter theme! Grey Matter is a clean and modern theme for FlatPress that's fully responsive and looks great on any device. It's a recreation of the Jekyll blog engine's default theme, for FlatPress.

What's New in v1.2:

  • Made the theme fully compatible with FlatPress 1.3. (If you're using FlatPress 1.2 or older, use Grey Matter v1.1)
  • Removed social media share icons in the entry footer.
  • Fixed a bug that crashed a couple of pages on FP 1.3. (Admin CP, Contact Us, etc)
  • Tweaked a couple of colors in the admin CP.
  • Updated preview images and readme.

Like FlatRead, this theme hasn't been updated in nearly a decade but still holds up remarkably well. I'm happy to see it continue to be a favorite among FlatPress users.

If you run into any issues, feel free to reach out on the Official FlatPress Forum.

See ya!

FlatRead 1.1

I'm just done updating FlatRead to v1.1, making it fully compatible with FlatPress 1.3.

FlatRead is a FlatPress theme that's very simplistic and minimalist. It is also 100% responsive, as it will adapt to your visitor's display size and will be rendered properly on any kind of device.

Here's what changed:

  • Made the theme fully compatible with FlatPress 1.3. (If you're using FlatPress 1.2 or older, use FlatRead v1.0.1)
  • Removed social media share icons in the entry footer.
  • Fixed a bug that crashed the "Contact Us" page on FP 1.3.
  • Updated preview images and readme.

Even though it's been almost a decade since it was last updated, this style still feels current and relevant. I'm glad it's still around and being used by the FlatPress community. Hopefully, this new update will last another 10 years, who knows! 😉

If you encounter an issue with this theme, let us know on the Official FlatPress Forum

See ya!

Quick Blog Update

Hi,

As you might have noticed, I'm no longer posting as much as before. It's not because I don't like this blog. I love it and I love Blogger. I just don't have that many things to share, and I'm aware it's never going to reach a wider audience. It's my tiny blog and always has been.

Nowadays, I tend to post on my primary website, Paranormalis.com. There, I reach a larger audience. People that I actually know and interact with. It feels more rewarding and creates more value than posting things here, in a vacuum.

I also started posting on Medium.com as a personal experiment, to see if the kind of articles I write can generate revenue. It's an exciting adventure, but I'm not very consistent. Still, I'm trying to push forward and keep the ball rolling. I must have made about $0.50 up to now. More than zero...

So, here are a couple of links where to find me.

Paranormalis.com:

Medium.com:

I'll certainly keep posting here once in a while. Not just right now, or on a regular basis.

See you around!

Memories of Downloading Games in 2000

The year was 2000 - or was it 1999? It was in the good old days of the Internet. When it was still somewhat new and special. Special, in the sense that not everyone had access to it. Unlike today, you had to be clever to find the good stuff.

Being the teenager I was, I'd spend most of my time downloading game demos from various sites that do not exist anymore. They're just distant memories now. I remember how exciting and endlessly compelling it was to open Netscape Navigator or an old ass version of Internet Explorer, then head to weird sites from which you could download game demos and whatnot. Anything could happen!!

I'm going to share a couple of memories I have of those bygone days.

First, I was able to trace back one of the best sites I'd download stuff from. It was "Electric Games". Here are 2 screenshots:

Look at that list, man. Doom, Doom95. Duke Nukem. Holy cow the memories.
